Federal Credit Union
Location: Chicago, IL
Work area: 23,100 square feet
Design build team: Mayes Architects, Inc. and Riis Borg Construction Company
This full-service cooperative dates back to 1951, but in March 2002 the credit union marked more than 50 years of operations with a new office at 2332 W. Chicago Avenue.
The design concept was based on the owner’s desire to make a strong visual statement that represented the past and future of their organization.
The project also had to be economically feasible, which provided guidelines for the type of construction and materials to be used. After re-viewing the original plans to renovate the existing structure it became evident a new building was going to be more cost prudent.
