Fresenius Medical Care Dialysis Clinic,
located on the campus of Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago,
offers the highest quality standards in dialysis care and
products for its patients and affiliated physicians. This
successful project reflects Riis Borg’s expertise in understanding the specialized
requirements necessary to identify issues and apply solutions
for today’s unique healthcare establishments and facilities.
Project description:
• 6,500 square foot interior build-out on the second
floor of a newly constructed medical office building.
• Due to the large amount of water that is utilized
during the dialysis process, particular attention had to
be paid to the installation of systems necessary to prevent
the migration of water to adjacent tenant spaces should a
significant leak occur.
Project highlights:
• Floor slab waterproofing, floor penetration sealing
and the installation of a leak detection system were all
undertaken with great care to protect the adjacent spaces
and the tenant below.
• Due to the specialized nature of its clinics, Fresenius
contracted directly with several vendors for the furnishing
and/or installation of medical systems specifically designed
for dialysis clinics.
• Riis Borg worked closely with the client to coordinate
the construction schedule with its vendors’ own schedule
requirements and to ensure that the installing contractors
were provided with sufficient information regarding the specifications
of these systems in a timely manner.
